As your car streaks down the track the air will try to slow it down. Excess wood, square features and a large front surface area will all increase air resistance. So your car needs to be shaped to eliminate these barriers to victory. Use these principles to make your car more aerodynamic:
Design your car with a low-profile; the surface area when viewed from the front of the car should be small.
Taper your car from small in the front, to larger in the back. Wood at the back provides room for mounting weight.
Round or taper all edges that run across your car – don’t leave places for air to catch.
Similarly, fill and sand any large holes - even on the bottom of your car!
Avoid the use of wings, sails, flags, pennants, etc.
In our lives, we also need to be 'Aerodynamic'. We all carry ‘excess baggage’ that causes us grief. Some have described it as a ‘hidden pain’; others as a void that cannot be filled. Whatever it is called, this hidden problem must be dealt with to achieve victory.
What is the source of this problem; where does it come from? It comes from the mistakes, the errors, the sins that we have intentionally or unintentionally committed throughout our lives.1 Unless sin is dealt with, we will carry it as burden the rest of lives.
Ignoring our sins will not make them go away. Confessing them to others may bring temporary, but not permanent relief. No, to remove this barrier to victory, we must permanently resolve the issue of sin itself, the guilt caused by sin, and the penalty for our sin.2 But this is a challenge that we cannot handle by ourselves.
Thankfully, we are not without hope. For there is a way to resolve the issue of sin in our lives – once for all time …
