Pinewood Derby Car Storage

You have just completed some serious work on your pinewood derby car. It is
two days until the weigh-in, so you carefully place the car on a book shelf.
Life is great. But then someone pulls out a book (or dusts, shakes the
shelf, etc.) and down comes the car. Crash! What a heartbreak.

To ensure that your car is in top shape when you arrive at the weigh-in,
always store your car in a padded box. Foam rubber makes good padding, but
soft, clean, and lint-free rags also work well. Then place the box in a
location where it will not be disturbed.

Avoid the temptation to take the car out of the box to show it to your
friends. The more the car is handled, the greater the risk of damage.

Finally, always transport the car in the box. Don't remove the car from the
box until it is time to weigh it on the scales.
